Born in Chichester, England, on 7 April 1972, TIM PEAKE was the first British ESA astronaut to visit the International Space
Station. He launched on a Soyuz rocket on 15 December 2015 and landed back on Earth 18 June 2016, after 186 days in space.
Commissioned into the Army Air Corps in 1992, Tim served on attachment with the Royal Green Jackets as a Platoon Commander in Northern Ireland before beginning
flight training. He was awarded his Army Flying Wings in 1994. He flew on military operations in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, Northern Ireland and Afghanistan. As a test
pilot, he was involved in numerous test flights on many different types of military helicopter, including operations with Special Forces.
On retirement from the British Army as a Major in 2009, TIM PEAKE was employed as a senior helicopter test
pilot for AgustaWestland.

During his career, he has logged over 2000 hours of flying time on more than 30 types of helicopter and fixed wing aircraft. Tim attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Flight
Dynamics and Evaluation from the University of Portsmouth in 2006. He holds a commercial pilot’s licence and maintains his flying.
During Tim’s Principia mission to the International Space Station, he conducted a spacewalk to repair the Station's power supply. Other highlights saw him drive a rover across a
simulated Mars terrain from space, taking part in over 250 scientific experiments for ESA and international partners and helping to dock two spacecrafts to the Station. Over
thirty education outreach projects were conducted during Tim’s mission, which have reached more than two million students.

TIM PEAKE is an ambassador for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and works closely with the United
Kingdom Space Agency (UKSA) and the UK government on their space, education and outreach programmes. He is also an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, the Scouts and has a close affiliation with
Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Make-A-Wish foundation.
Tim was a founding member of both the Ministry of Defence Innovation External Advisory Panel and the Department of Science, Innovation & Technology
non-executive Board. He has been an Advisory Board member for several UK based companies.
He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the Queen’s 2016 Birthday Honours for services to space research and scientific education.
Tim is married with two sons. Among his leisure activities he enjoys skiing, scuba diving, cross-country running, climbing and motorcycling.

formation de pilote. Il reçut ses ailes d'aviation en 1994. Il participa à des opérations militaires en ex-Yougoslavie, en Irlande du Nord et en Afghanistan. En tant que pilote
d'essai, il participa à de nombreux vols d'essai sur différents types d'hélicoptères militaires, notamment au sein des forces spéciales.
À sa retraite de l'armée britannique avec le grade de major en 2009, Tim fut embauché comme pilote d'essai principal d'hélicoptères pour AgustaWestland. Au cours
de sa carrière, il totalisa plus de 2 000 heures de vol sur plus de 30 types d'hélicoptères et d'avions. Tim a obtenu une licence en dynamique et évaluation du
vol à l'Université de Portsmouth en 2006. Il est titulaire d'une licence de pilote professionnel et maintient son brevet de pilote.
Lors de sa mission Principia à bord de la Station spatiale internationale, Tim a effectué une sortie dans l'espace pour réparer l'alimentation électrique de la Station. Il a
également piloté un rover sur un terrain martien simulé depuis l'espace, participé à plus de 250 expériences scientifiques pour l'ESA et des partenaires internationaux et
contribué à l'amarrage de deux engins spatiaux à la Station. Plus de trente projets de sensibilisation ont été menés pendant sa mission, touchant plus de deux millions
d'élèves.
TIM PEAKE est ambassadeur des sciences, de la technologie, de l'ingénierie et des mathématiques (STEM) et travaille en
étroite collaboration avec l'Agence spatiale britannique (UKSA) et le gouvernement britannique sur leurs programmes spatiaux, éducatifs et de sensibilisation. Il est également
ambassadeur du Prince's Trust et des Scouts, et entretient des liens étroits avec le Great Ormond Street Hospital et la fondation Make-A-Wish.
Tim a été membre fondateur du Comité consultatif externe pour l'innovation du ministère de la Défense et du Conseil d'administration non exécutif du ministère des
Sciences, de l'Innovation et de la Technologie. Il a siégé au conseil consultatif de plusieurs entreprises britanniques.
Il a été nommé Compagnon de l'Ordre de Saint-Michel et Saint-Georges (CMG) lors des honneurs de l'anniversaire de la Reine en 2016 pour services rendus à la recherche spatiale et
à l'enseignement scientifique.
Tim est marié et père de deux fils. Parmi ses loisirs, il pratique le ski, la plongée sous-marine, la course de fond, l'escalade et la moto.
